As you prayerfully consider joining the 4MYC team, we want you to know that you are sowing into amazing soil!

 

Every week our team is working diligently on the frontlines in Canada. While other, socially liberal, groups receive millions of dollars in government funding (literally) we do not receive a penny and yet have been able to have an even greater impact on Parliament Hill than many of these highly funded groups.

 

Why is that?

 

We think it is because we are committed, hard working, passionate, and focused. We feel we can say with total integrity, you are sowing into great soil as you partner with MYC and get an amazing 'bang' for your buck (so to speak). Canada will be changed and impacted as Canadians like you, and Canadians like us, band together to make it happen. Let's do it!

 

INFLUENCING PARLIAMENT:

  • Meeting with MPs and Senators for the purpose of honouring them and speaking to them about the issues facing Canada today.

 

INFLUENCING MEDIA:

  • Influencing media through writing articles, op-eds and blogging.

 

TRAINING AND MOBILIZING THE NEXT GENERATION:

  • We train and mobilize individuals in how to effectively impact the nation through training schools and our national leadership team.

 

INFORMING YOU:

  • We do our best to keep on top of current events in Canada and communicate key initiatives, information and 'action steps' to our network through social media, e-blasts and update videos.

Does MY Canada give tax receipts?

MY Canada is a registered non-profit society but due to the political nature of some of our work we are not a registered charity. Most of what we do and say we could not if we were a charity.

To explain, under Revenue Canada regulations charities cannot have focused dialogue on topics that are viewed as 'political' (marriage, life, issues related to Israel would all fall under this category at this point). Charities cannot work to affect legislation and cannot encourage its members to affect legislation in Canada.

Because we may be motivated to speak to legislation at certain points (like we did with raising the age of sexual consent (C-22)) we needed to make a choice. We decided the future of Canada was more important than an ability to give charitable receipts.

We are excited about having to face this as we feel it was a 'test' of our authenticity as an organization. By choosing to remain non-charitable we believe we are taking the higher ground at this point. On another note, the fact that we have remained non-charitable means that churches who are 'concerned' about jeopardizing their charitable status and therefore are timid about taking a stand can send their congregational members to this side instead. We can say clearly and overtly what some churches may be unable to say at this point. We pray this will be a strong service to faith based Canadians who are concerned about a variety of issues.
